         Message from the President

   "Genesis" is the publication of the Florida Conference United Methodist Women and goes to every member.  The latest issue has an excellent article written by Richard (Rick) Neal, Northeast District Superintendent.  He writes of "The Big Picture", specifically to describe the relationship between United Methodist Women and other lay groups within the Florida Conference.  He quotes the DISCIPLINE, the nature of the U.M.W. itself, that we are charged "to encourage all women to participate in the total life and work of the church and . . . support them in assuming positions of responsibility and leadership."
    Rev. Neal writes, "The United Methodist Women (and its myriad predecessor organizations) have always defined our particular contribution to the individual and corporate wholeness of the Wesleyan movement as expanding 'concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.'  This passion for mission is our gift to the big picture of the whole church, and is the basis for our long-time mission to women, youth, and children everywhere."   Thanks, Rev. Neal!!
